I normally charge 1/3 of cash compensation for the candidate (typically base + bonus) tied to a minimum retainer fee that can range from $100-200k depending on the stage and size of the business. The retainer fee is paid out in time-based thirds on a 0-30-60 day model, and if 1/3 of cash comp exceeds the retainer fee, that uptick will be charged at the end of the search.
